Slow And Steady- Healthy Weight Gain for Women

Weight – Logical and gradual process to gain weight, for women. Used in cases explained below, in the article.

Weight:

Weight has gained tremendous attention these days, especially in the case of women. Too much is considered ‘’unattractive’’, too little is anorexic. And so on, and on, indefinitely. Wherever you look, you see debates and information about women and weight being thrown around. Add to that the media that infamously separates male and female magazines, and you are in for trouble. Where to start, what weight even means, how do you go about your weight. All these questions are badly answered, if at all, by mainstream media. Lot of them are trying to earn money from insecure and gullible people who simply don’t know better. We will show you how, even in touchy topics such as weight, you can keep your senses and stay healthy.

Getting into the numbers:

That is right. Everyone can be differentiated by their respective number on the scale, which is called weight. There is another thing that everyone sees when they see you, and that is body fat index. Body mass index means you are heavy, or light. But in a much nicer way than saying fat or skinny. Basically, there are a million parameters included when it comes to our body. Muscle mass index is one of the more important ones. It means that you are carrying a lot of muscle; or rather, more muscle than average. Which naturally puts you at being healthy. That is where the simplest routines can come in handy, such as kettlebells ones that can easily be performed anywhere.

To make things short and sweet, as far as the scale goes, it is all wishful thinking. That number may vary drastically if:

  • You drank a lot of water
  • You didn’t empty your bowels
  • Time of the day

Common myths

Time of the day means whether or not you have eaten breakfast or dinner. Or fasted. Scale is good if it is treated like a variable, not as an end to all things. For women, this is far more complicated because of hormones. One hormone in particular, and it is called estrogen. Estrogen is the reason you are  a woman in the first place, well at least majorly. There are others involved, male counterpart is testosterone. And if testosterone gets loose, men can find themselves in similar problems with all the measurements and numbers people love to toss around these days.

Only true measure, that you can truthfully stick to, is called a mirror. Mirror is really important for ‘’looking’’ good. For feeling good, you need to make sure that a steady flow of good, healthy  food is coming your way.

How to see a difference:

For a tangible difference, all you need to do is think about the numbers and reps you do. If you do one weight with one rep range, changing the weight and keeping the reps the same means progress. If you eat healthy, or at least include more healthy foods than before, you will see a difference, don’t worry about that. Just make sure to keep consistency, so you can continue where you left off, instead of beginning every time you force yourself to train.

More about estrogen:

Estrogen regulates a lot of functions in a woman’s body. It helps to maintain a reproductive system, as well as keeping breasts and other female characteristics. A lot of people have heard about dopamine, which is a hormone as well. Well, that is how all that works. You MUST keep your hormones balanced, or otherwise you won’t function normally, even if you try your real hardest. If you are under stress, your adrenal glands produce cortisol, which is known as stress hormone.

Males can get away with whacky testosterone because they don’t have functions such as pregnancy and period, where chemicals go wild basically. Those chemicals are your hormones. Those are transitory times, and life happens. But we have to maintain a stable ‘’circuit’’, otherwise, we are in trouble. That means, calming down, taking control of the situation, avoiding stressful situations, or learning how to deal with problems with greater efficiency and providence. If you breakdown completely at every small issue, you will have a really hard time with health, because the chemical repercussions of your brain going wild will take a toll on the body.

Takeaway lesson:

There is a Japanese philosophy called Kaizen, which should be a great source of life force for everyone. It is based on continuous, incremental improvements that shape and dictate our lives. Rather than the huge and seemingly overwhelming New Year’s or any other resolution, you just make sure you are doing something right. Even the smallest steps.

Another thing is to be accountable and responsible for yourself and your body. If you make wrong choices or poor decisions, you will quickly find out that it is always easier to destroy then it is to build. This principle is also a pitfall of human condition. When you look at children’s play, they will always revel in destruction  more than in creation. Same thing goes for adults. Alcohol, bad food and bad life habits will only get you so far, and they feel enjoyable because they are easy to do and make us a part of something we don’t work for.

What we don’t work for will always get us in the downward spiral of destruction. Make sure you are doing at least one positive, uplifting and creative thing for yourself. Even if it is a 10-minute walk or a bite of something healthy. Do this more often than not, and you have a  guaranteed success rate. After all, it takes a lot of time to be completely in ruin when you consider the human body. You don’t suddenly wake up one day and you have 500 pounds. Small, continuous choices make you that. Surprisingly enough, small, continuous choices also make you healthy and energetic.
