Protein Snack

I love snacks, and being healthy does not mean that you should forget about rewarding yourself with food that you like eating. That is why I think of a healthy sweet snack that you and I will surely love. Therefore, I came up with a chocolate bliss ball recipe with nutritious ingredients like dates and coconut. These bliss balls are known as protein snacks because dates and coconut have enough protein and other nutrients.

Nutritional Value of Dates

Dates come from a date palm tree that is abundant in tropical countries around the world. Recently, it became very popular because of its many nutritional benefits. However, most of the dates that you can find in Western countries already go through the process of drying. It is easier to tell if it’s dried or fresh based on its skin. If you see some wrinkles on the skin, then it means that it already undergo drying. A date with very smooth skin indicates that it is still fresh.

Dates have the best nutritional profile than other fruits. However, the calories of dried dates are higher than the fresh ones. Its calorie content is very similar to other dried fruits like figs and raisins. Hence, it has both carbohydrates and protein and other important nutrients. You may get additional potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, manganese, and fiber into your diet. Another thing that you will love about dates is that it is very high in antioxidants that can offer lots of health benefits.

Also, coconut has minerals that are important for the overall function of the body. Its manganese content helps in bone health.
